Just got back from Columbus, Ohio and have a report for you all on Origins 2018 today. I’ll begin, where everything ended which was with Darcy at the Monte Cook Games booth. This was about ten minutes before the Dealer hall closed, and Darcy, still going strong, and pitched me on Invisible Sun, and provided a preview of the new Kickstarter game by Monte Cook & Co. She mentioned it had arrived and was very likely to be actually available at GenCon, and didn’t balk when I asked about the price, which was a really good sign. While being one of the most expensive games around, the boxed set, of course, is AAA quality, with simply gorgeous production values… and will only be available in a limited edition, so if you want to order one, or two… the good time is now.

This year, there were more and better games available than ever before. It seems like we have entered a second Golden Age for Roleplaying games as well as board games and I’ll be providing some overviews and information on a few of these gems as well as providing reports on gaming and games being played at the show, So buckle in, and buckle up, it’s time for your whirlwind tour of Origins 2018!
Saturday June 16th, 2018
We arrived on Saturday Morning about 9:30 AM to a very modest line. We had not preregistered at all, and I wanted to see how well the show was going. There is usually always a rush during Saturday morning as the people only available for the weekend register, and buy badges, however our wait in line was a brisk twenty minutes, and we were badged within twenty-five. First stop, a Tour of the Dealer hall, and here are a few photos from our first visit. Click on any of the pictures to embiggen.
WOTC’s Avalon Hill brought an M5a1 Stuart Tank for the Axis & Allies gaming areas at the show….
D&D Monster Mash – This was the hottest ticket at the show on Saturday Night, with people three deep around the table fighting for the chance to play in a round… The premise, you are a D&D monster in the dungeon, chock full of other monsters. Good Luck! Lots of gruesome death and mayhem with this game…
Random Tabletop Wargaming
The Walking Dead Minis Game
There were lots of Train Games at Origins 2018 as well!
…More Origins goodness to come!
